St Mary’s School Uniform Information
Our uniform is an important part of our school’s brand. It should be worn correctly and with pride at school and in public to convey a positive message about St Mary’s.
- All students from Prep to Year 6 wear a compulsory uniform
- Prep students wear the same uniform every day
- Year 1 to 6 students have a day uniform and a sports uniform

Uniform Requirements
Please review the following uniform requirements for day wear, sports and season.
Prep Uniform
- Blue prep shirt
- Navy blue day stubbies (boys)
- Navy Skorts (girls)
- All black shoes or joggers
- Navy blue socks worn over the ankles
- School hat
Year 1 to 6 Day Uniform
Boys
- Checked blue school shirt
- Navy blue knee length elasticized shorts
- All black shoes or joggers
- Navy blue socks worn over the ankles
- School hat
Girls
- Checked dress (to be worn at knee length) or checked blouse with navy blue skorts
- Black shoes or joggers
- Navy blue socks worn over the ankles
- School hat
Year 1 to 6 Sports Uniform
Boys & Girls
- School sports shirt
- Taslon sports shorts (girls may wear skorts instead)
- All black joggers
- Navy blue socks worn over the ankles
- School hat or sports hat
Winter Uniform Prep to Year 6
Children are permitted to wear one of the following in addition to their standard uniform.
- Navy blue tracksuit (see ‘Other’ below)
- Navy blue sloppy joe
- Taslon zip up jacket
Girls may also wear navy blue tights under their dress only.
Rules Regarding Jewellery, Hair, Make-Up & Adornments
Jewellery
- One watch (no attachments to watch)
- One flat signet ring only
- One religious medallion only (must be worn under school uniform)
- One set of earrings for girls – small plain sleepers or plain studs
- No earrings are to be worn by boys
Hair for Girls
- Hair longer than shoulder length must be tied back at all times
- No colouring in hair
- Hair bands, hair ties, hair ribbons and clips must be navy blue in colour or made from school checked uniform material
- Sensible haircuts and styles
- All hair styles are to be such that the school hat can be worn correctly
Hair for Boys
- Hair is to be no longer than the collar and out of the eyes
- Haircuts are to be sun safe (not to be so short that the scalp is seen)
- No razor cuts
- No colouring in hair
- All hair styles are to be such that the school hat can be worn correctly
Make-Up
- No make-up allowed
- Chap stick, lip balm or Vaseline are approved for dry lips
- No fingernail polish or shiny nail hardener
Other
- Tracksuit pants can only be worn if the school jumper is worn as well
- If a child is not in the full and correct school uniform, a note is required from their parent or guardian explaining why their child is out of uniform and when they will be in the correct uniform. This note is to be given to the class teacher. The child is to keep this note while out of uniform.
- If a child is consistently not in the correct uniform, the leadership team will follow up with the parent and/or guardian
- It is expected that all children will comply with this uniform code
