At St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, we strive to help all students reach their full potential.
When students show a special aptitude or strength in a certain area, we provide opportunities for them to be challenged and explore further.
This can include:
This competition is an exciting opportunity for Catholic Primary schools in the Rockhampton Diocese to come together in celebration under a sporting banner. The Challenge Cup involves schools participating in netball and rugby league competitions over three days at St Brendan’s College.
Challenge Cup carnivals are always great events enjoyed by staff, parents and children alike.
The Opti-MINDS Creative Sustainability Challenge is an inclusive team challenge that encourages students to think, create and communicate.
Each year St Mary’s enters two teams in the Opti-MINDS Challenge. Preparation is done mostly at lunchtime on occasionally on weekends. The competition itself is usually run on a weekend.
We often have students participate in other programs such as reading, writing, maths and STEM (science, technology, engineering, maths) challenges. We will advise parents and students when these opportunities are made available by various organisations.
