As part of our commitment to providing a complete learning experience, St Mary’s Catholic Primary School provides specialist lessons in some key areas.
PE provides several developmental and social benefits for primary school children.
These include:
Our classroom music lessons are highly interactive and provide a fun and interesting way for students to explore concepts such as pitch, rhythm, terms and signs. Through music students also gain insights into musical history and other cultures.
Music is also credited for the development of other skills such as coordination, creativity, perseverance and confidence.
Students in years 4, 5 and 6 have the opportunity to participate in St Mary’s Instrumental Music Program. We have a Junior Concert Band, Senior Concert Band and a String Ensemble, all of whom participate in various concerts and eisteddfods throughout the year. All instruments are taught by highly qualified teachers.
Our students can also join either our Junior or Senior Choirs. The choirs perform at various school events, as well as participating in the Bundaberg Eisteddfod. The physical, social and emotional benefits of being part of a choir have been long recognised and we are happy to provide this opportunity for our students.
While many of our students attend private swimming lessons, we are committed to ensuring that all students have the opportunity to learn water safety and survival along with good swimming technique. We work with Bundaberg Swimming Academy to facilitate lessons for several weeks each year across all grades.
